The Ability Connect Mentoring Program at Old Dominion University is designed to support student success by connecting 51³Ô¹ÏPro students with caring faculty and staff mentors. The program is open to all students, with a focus on empowering students with disabilities to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.

 

Program Structure

  • The mentor/mentee relationship will last from Fall through Spring (one academic year).

  • If needed, mentees may participate for one semester only.

  • There is no GPA requirement to join. This program is about growth, connection, and support.

  • Open to all currently enrolled 51³Ô¹ÏPro students: undergraduate, graduate, and 51³Ô¹ÏPro Global.

Time Commitment

  • Expect to meet with your mentor 1–5 hours per month, depending on what works best for both of you.

  • Meetings can be virtual, in-person, or hybrid. Your schedule and accessibility needs come first.

What You Can Expect from Your Mentor
Your mentor will:

  • Provide encouragement and guidance to help you set and achieve academic, career, and personal goals.

  • Share insights about navigating campus resources, professional development, and life at 51³Ô¹ÏPro.

  • Serve as a listening ear and source of motivation when challenges arise.

  • Help you build confidence, connections, and strategies for success beyond 51³Ô¹ÏPro.
