This is the official site for Old Dominion University (51³Ô¹ÏPro) tuition rates. Rates listed on this page are effective Fall 2025.ÌýPrevious Tuition Rates remain in effect through Summer 2025. There are additional fees and charges depending on academic standing, housing arrangements and other factors.
- There is no maximum tuition amount for students.
- All tuition charges are based on a per-credit-hour rate.
- Tuition rates are subject to change by the Board of Visitors (BOV) each Spring.

Active Duty Military Tuition Rates
Effective Fall 2018, a Military Tuition Rate is available for eligible undergraduate active duty military personnel enrolled in degree or non-degree seeking, for-credit courses offered on campus or online.

- Military students utilizing VA Educational Benefits may have their semester charges deferred.Ìý

Selected Mandatory Fees
Fee | Description | Who Pays |

Mandatory Comprehensive Auxiliary Fee - $154Ìýper credit hour | The mandatory comprehensive fee supports auxiliaries such as the student union, recreational sports, student facilities, student activities, and intercollegiate athletics. This separate fee has historically been assessed and listed as part of a combined tuition rate. While not a new fee, beginning with Academic Year 2025-26 this fee will be assessed separately on the student bill. | MandatoryÌý- Fee applies to students who pay the standard undergraduate and graduate tuition rate. |
General Services Fee - $18 per semester | The General Services Fee covers general services that were traditionally assessed under individual fees for items such as graduation, course drops, reinstatement, matriculation and course catalog. | MandatoryÌý-ÌýFees applicable to students regardless of domiciliary classification or number of classes taken. This fee is not subject to waivers. |
Student Health Fee - $170 per semester | The Student Health Fee is mandatory for students meeting the criteria below:
Undergraduate students taking 6 or more credit hours must pay this fee each semester. Graduate students taking 6 or more credit hours must pay this fee each semester. The fee is not charged for students taking all off-campus courses. If any courses are officially designated as Norfolk Campus courses, then the fee is mandatory. |

Transportation Fee - $63 | The transportation fee is paid once each semester by all students. However, no fee is charged during the summer term. The fee is charged for students taking courses officially designated as Norfolk campus courses.
If any courses are officially designated as Norfolk campus courses, then the transportation fee is mandatory. |
Mandatory - Fees applicable to all students, including those enrolled in student teaching, dissertation, theses, and GRAD 999 unless otherwise noted. This fee is not charged in the summer. |
Innovation Fee - $5 per credit hourÌý | The Innovation Fee is an auxiliary student fee that supports strategic investments in campus technology. This fee is used to enhance digital tools, classroom technologies, and student support systems. | Mandatory- Fees applicable to all students. The fee is not subject to waivers. |
ID Card Fee - $4Ìýper semester | The ID Card Fee is mandatory for all students. The fee covers the Card Center services, equipment, and operating costs. | Mandatory - Fees applicable to all students. This fee is not subject to waivers. |
Commonwealth Capital Fee - $17.50 per credit hour | The Commonwealth Capital FeeÌýis required by the State Appropriation Act for all out of state students at institutions of higher education in Virginia. |

Student Transition Fee - $75 | The Student Transition fee is assessed to all new degree-seeking, non-distance undergraduate students and covers orientation and other transition-to-college programming.
The fee will be included in the tuition billing statement and is due by tuition deadline. |

International Student Fee - $35Ìýper semester | The International Student Fee is mandatory for students attending the University on a student visa. Technology Delivered Course Fee - $30Ìýper credit hour | A technology fee will be charged to students taking technology delivered courses to cover the costs of providing these courses. | Mandatory - Fee applicable to all students taking technology delivered courses. Course-Related Fees | Fees may be assessed to students based on their enrollment in specific courses to cover the cost of laboratory support, other materials, or private lessons. | Fees vary. |
International Student Health Insurance |
Health insurance charges are posted directly to the student's billing statement and are due on the tuition deadlines for the academic year. International students have the option of participating in theÌýUniversity's Payment PlanÌýavailable in Fall and Spring semesters only. Fall Semester (Aug-Dec) - $1,177. Charges due by Fall tuition deadline. Spring Semester & Summer (Jan-July) $1,632. Charges due by Spring tuition deadline. Non-credit students enrolled in the English Language Center Program will be charged based on the session. Tuition and fees for non-credit programs are due at the time of enrollment. |
